Your 4-Day 4-Day Journey From Cautious to Confident
Most paddlers spend years trying to “control” the water. But what if the breakthrough you’ve been searching for isn’t about control at all?
Over these 4 intensive days, you’ll experience a complete shift in how you relate to your kayak and the water around you through playful, repetitive practice of 5 core principles:
Every day, you’ll practice embodying your kayak instead of being trapped by it. We’ll adjust your setup so your pelvis can move freely, your body can rotate naturally, and your kayak becomes an extension of you rather than a prison.
Daily practice generating power from your dan tien — your core center — instead of exhausting your arms and shoulders. This ancient martial arts principle transforms paddling from work into flow.
You’ll experience the counterintuitive truth that relaxation creates stability, not tension. Through repeated practice, you’ll discover that when you’re aligned and tension-free, you become unshakeable even in challenging conditions.
Daily practice generating power from your dan tien — your core center — instead of exhausting your arms and shoulders. This ancient martial arts principle transforms paddling from work into flow.
You’ll learn to feel what’s working and what isn’t, making micro-adjustments in real-time. This awareness keeps you improving long after the retreat ends.
The power is in the repetition
Each day builds on the last. Each practice session in the currents deepens your understanding.
By the end of these 4 days, you’ll:
Feel genuinely excited about rough water instead of anxious

Daily Schedule
9:00 AM - Morning Movement Session (30 minutes)
We start each day on land with somatic movement exercises designed to prepare your body for the water. You’ll practice the core principles — pelvic freedom, dan tien awareness, tension release — so they’re already integrated before you get in your kayak.

This schedule repeats for 4 days, with each day building on the last. By day 4, you’ll be moving through currents with a confidence and ease that seemed impossible on day 1.
This retreat is perfect for you if:
- You can paddle 3 knots and cover 12 nautical miles in a day — we need to move efficiently to reach the best current spots
- You have solid self-rescue skills — wet exits, re-entries, and assisted rescues
- You own a drysuit or wetsuit — we'll be playing in moving water, so proper thermal protection is essential
- You're ready to challenge everything you think you know about paddling — this isn't about adding techniques to what you already do, it's about fundamentally changing your approach
- You want to feel confident in rough water — not just survive it, but actually enjoy challenging conditions
- You're tired of fighting the water — you're ready to discover what it feels like to move with flow instead of force
- You're open to learning through feeling rather than thinking — somatic learning requires letting go of the need to intellectually understand everything
